Thomas C. Turner Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to 2 college-bound seniors from Monroe High School. The scholarships, now in their 12th year, are awarded to a male and female athlete from Monroe who exemplify sportsmanship and leadership. The awards given out to date total $34,000 in scholarships. This year on June 2nd, two additional awards will be handed out in Thomas' name.

Thomas C. Turner was a Junior at Monroe High School when he died in 2007. Thomas was a long time soccer player who competed hard but was also known for his sportsmanship and kindness.

The Monroe Public Schools Foundation (MPSF) manages the Local Community Scholarship Awards Program. The MPSF is a nonprofit organization which will make any donations made towards this Scholarship award tax deductible as allowed by law. Anyone making a donation for this scholarship will receive a tax letter in January income tax purpose from the MPSF.

100% of any money donated for this scholarship will sent directly to the college of the recipient’s choice.
